Biography

Fakhri El Ghezal (1981, Akouda) is an independent Tunisian visual artist and cinematographer, whose practice includes analogue photography, video, painting, drawing and calligraphy under several pseudonyms.

In El Ghezal’s work, “it always revolves around the light, by its manifestation and through the light”[1], that appears through different settings of buried memory, resolved traces and the revealed ones.

 

The visual work of Fakhri El Ghezal has been presented in many festivals, fairs, national and international exhibitions. Such as the Rencontres Africaines de la photographie de Bamako, Festival Dream City at Tunis, Locarno Film Festival, Journée cinematographique de Carthage, at the Beirut Art Center in Lebanon, at the CCCB in Barcelona, at the KVS in Brussels, at the New Museum in New York as well as at the Mucem in Marseilles and at the Center for Living Art in Tunis.
